Changes to The Ontario Business Registry

Effective May 15, 2021, we are no longer able to file your Ontario Corporations Information Act Annual Return with Canada Revenue Agency. (These forms provided Service Ontario with changes to the corporations addresses and directors and were required to be filed annually.)
Any returns filed prior to May 15, 2021, had their annual return filed by us with your Corporate Tax Returns.
Later in 2021, Service Ontario will be launching a new registry system for “any business (including a not-for-profit) that is registered, incorporated, or licensed to carry on business in Ontario will, have an online profile in the new Ontario Business Registry.”
Existing businesses will not need to file an Annual return after May 15, 2021, until further notice. However, you will need to register with Service Ontario to receive updates on when and what you will need to file to continue operations in Ontario. You will need an email address or address and the Ontario Corporation Number (OCN) or Business Identification Number (BIN) when you sign up.

Service Ontario will have users participate in trials to provide feedback on their new system. If you are interested you can sign up on their website registry.
